another lab test
Last Saturday, I had another lab test. This is the Glucose Test Challenge which is usually asked for women who are within their 24 weeks to 28 weeks of pregnancy. As per the OB's instruction, this is my assignment for this month.
We went to the clinic around 7:30 to catch the 8 hours fasting period. The medtech was not around until about 7:45. She asked me to drink the orange glucose liquid thing. It tastes like a carbonated drink but a little less sugary. At first it was okay but after a few minutes, I feel like vomiting. I had to stay in one area for an hour before she extracted blood sample.
The medtech was good because she easily got blood sample from me. I didn't even felt a thing. We were asked to go back after a couple of hours for the result...
and the verdict, the value of my test is higher than normal. I had 158 mg/dL while the normal value should be within 120-130 mg/dL
When I told the result to my sister, she told me that it is indeed high that I should change my diet. I should also start moving and avoid stationary positions.
Gosh, I feel so sad with the result. Now I am trying to move to burn those carbohydrates that are transformed into glucose... I need to make some chances on my diet as well. For the meantime, no more chocolates for me and baby Gwenks
