gwen mari's baptism
The day was filled with blessings and love. We were able to come up with this because of family and friends who shared their time with us.
We got up early Sunday morning to prepare for the day. I did last minute preparations while Gwen went to Pacita to fetch the people who would help us for the day. I was thankful because it was less stressful for me preparing baby because mommy was there to help. She took charge of giving bath and dressing her 'apo'. Around 10:30 am, we were all set to go to the church. Baby Gwenks rode the car with her lolas and lolo while G and I took the van. On our way, we said our simple prayer... that we lift everything to HIM.
When we got to the church, there were already several friends around. While G went looking for a parking area, I went to the office to pay the Baptismal Fee of P300 plus P50 for the Baptismal Candle. When the mass ended, we changed baby Gwenks into her baptismal clothes and went inside the church to find a place. As per instruction, for every family/child, one pew should be occupied. But since there are 'many' of us, we opted to occupy the last pew to accommodate all our families and friends.
While waiting for the priest, we were accommodated by the manangs inside the church. They briefed us with what we should do and how we should answer during the rites. They were even apologetic because of the delay. In spite of the delay, we were still okay with it because it gave us the chance to talk with our friends and take some pictures with them. We hardly noticed the delay because of this.
The ceremony went fast but it was meaningful. The priest was very patient in reminding the parents and godparents with what they should do and what they should answer. On our part, the ninongs and ninangs were cooperative with what they should do. Everyone who were present made the sign of the cross on baby's forehead, everyone lighted their candles and everyone answered when they were asked by the priest to give their commitments to their godchild (I hope). The ceremony ended at around 12:30 already.
When we got home, there were already several visitors waiting for us so we started the ball rolling. We asked everyone to get their food and look for a comfortable place to sit and eat. In my entire life, this is the only time that I know all the people who sat down with us. All the guests were our friends and relatives. There were no gatecrashers or what. Because of this, I wasn't able to sit at one specific place. I went around trying to talk with everyone present. It was nice to see people whom you didn't expect to come but they were around. It was truly meaningful and we are grateful for it (you know who you are
)
At the end of the day, we thanked God for making the event possible. Thank you for the people that celebrated with us... until the next event in our small home.
